21 days left on the Maker's Diet!
"I have loved you with an everlasting love..."
(Jeremiah 31)
I thought this picture would be a blessing to us today. Look how that tree is still standing, although bent, underneath the winds of a hurricane. And how appropriate, look at the image right behind it..a pirate. Satan can always be found in the "background" of a lot of our struggles. He wages war against the people of God continually. Thanks be to God for Christ Jesus and the victory we have.
But sometimes we go through issues in life: personal, financial, relational, health, loneliness, regrets, guilt, anger, sadness, and too many others to name. This can "weigh" us down. And even though no "pounds" are attached to the scale, these problems can "weigh a ton" on our spirit.
Let me say this, I would rather have physical weight than spiritual weight any day. Spiritual weight is heavy, way too heavy, to carry. I am thankful that we have a great high priest, Jesus Christ, that understands our hearts and our "issues". When I find myself in this place, I say to the Lord (through my tears), "Lord, give me tissues for my issues." And He does.
This devo may not be about the "Diet" per se, but it is about alot of the things that may propel us not to really "care" what we do with our bodies. Then again, maybe not. There are some that just love to eat, not for any other reason except loving the wrong foods...too often. And then there are those of us that have deep issues..or what I call "matters of the heart"....underneath the weight.
May the Lord Jesus Christ come and breathe on us today. May He comfort all of us on this bitter, cold Saturday morning. May He give us our manna for this day, and this day alone, lest we hoard it and it turn to worms. No. We don't want more than we need, Lord. We just need our Daily Bread..and that is found in Christ.
Here are some words from David Crowder's, "How He Loves Us" ballad. If you get a chance, "You Tube" him and be blessed.
"He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great your affections are for me.
And Oh, how He loves us Oh,
How He loves us,
How He loves us all,
......
And we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If His grace is an ocean, we're all sinking,
And Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart beats violently inside of my chest,
I don't have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about the way
That He loves us!
Oh how He loves us!
How He loves us!
How He loves!"
Today, I want all of us to know this one thing: Fat, skinny, tall, short, no matter what...HE LOVES US.
